Homemade peach iced tea

Real peaches simmered with sugar and black tea, chilled over ice — like the bottled stuff, except it actually tastes like peaches.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe peaches, sliced
  • 1 liter water
  • 1/3 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 3–4 black tea bags
  • Ice, to serve
  • Peach slices and mint, to garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Simmer the sliced peaches in the water with the sugar for about 10 minutes, until soft and fragrant.
  2. Bring to a boil, turn off the heat and add the tea bags. Steep 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the tea bags and let the mixture cool completely.
  4. Strain into a pitcher, pressing gently on the peaches.
  5. Serve over plenty of ice, garnished with peach slices and mint.
Tip: Better than the bottled version, and you control the sugar. It keeps 3–4 days in the fridge.
