Instructions
- Warm & cozy gingerbread-spiced cinnamon rolls, perfect for christmas morning!
- Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add egg, egg yolk, and melted butter, mix.
- Stir in salt, flour, and spices.
- Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes.
- Place in a lightly greased bowl, cover, & let rise for 1-1 1/2 hrs/until doubled.
- Mix together the filling ingredients until combined/spreadable.
- Roll the dough into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
- Spread the filling evenly all over it.
- I like to use a pizza cutter to first slice 12 pieces then roll them each up tightly. (Or you can tightly roll the whole thing then slice)
- Place in greased 9x13 pan.
- Cover and let rise 35-45 more min.
- Pour warm heavy cream over rolls right before baking.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 22-28 min until golden.
- To make the icing, beat cream cheese and butter together until smooth. Then beat in powdered sugar and vanilla.
- Spread over warm rolls. Top with christmas sprinkles and/or gingerbread if you'd like.
