Double chocolate banana bread
Deeply chocolatey banana bread made with cocoa, real chocolate and very ripe bananas — moist for days, if it lasts that long.

Ingredients
- 3 very ripe bananas
- 113 g unsalted butter, melted
- 100 g sugar
- 100 g brown sugar
- 100 g semisweet chocolate, melted
- 180 g all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 5 g baking soda (or 5 g baking powder)
- 60 g cocoa powder
- Pinch of salt
- Chocolate chips, to decorate
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and line a loaf pan.
- Mash the bananas until smooth, then whisk in the melted butter, both sugars, the eggs and vanilla.
- Stir in the melted chocolate.
- Fold in the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt, mixing just until no dry streaks remain.
- Pour into the pan and scatter chocolate chips on top.
- Bake 50–60 minutes, until a skewer comes out with moist crumbs but no wet batter. Cool in the pan 15 minutes before slicing.
