Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup salted butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (150 g)
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar (55 g)
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 11/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 11/4 cups mashed banana, about
  • 2 medium bananas (300 g)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or full-fat greek yogurt (60 g)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (240 g)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (135 g) instructions preheat the oven to 400°f

  3. In a large bowl, mash the bananas then whisk in the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and glossy
  4. Whisk in the eggs one at a time until fully emulsified, then mix in the vanilla

  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt
  7. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet just until no dry pockets remain
  8. Fold in the chocolate chips last
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared pan
  10. Add choc chips and place the loaf in the oven and bake at 400°f for 8 minutes, then without opening the oven door, reduce the temperature to 325°f and continue baking for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the banana bread portion comes out with moist crumbs but no wet batter
  11. Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 20 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely before slicing
