Roasted garlic potatoes au gratin with beef
Thin potato slices baked in a roasted-garlic béchamel, topped with seasoned beef and bubbling mozzarella — creamy inside, crispy on top.

Ingredients
- 6 potatoes, thinly sliced
- 6–8 roasted garlic cloves
- 50 g butter
- 50 g all-purpose flour
- 600 ml whole milk
- 100 g heavy cream
- Garlic powder, salt, pepper, paprika, nutmeg and a pinch of cinnamon
- 200 g ground beef, seasoned and cooked
- Mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Slice the potatoes thin and boil 8 minutes; drain.
- Make the béchamel: melt the butter, whisk in the flour, then the milk little by little, followed by the cream.
- Stir in the roasted garlic, the spices and a handful of cheese.
- Layer the potatoes in a baking dish, pour the sauce over, and bake at 175°C (350°F) for 15–20 minutes.
- Top with the cooked beef and mozzarella, and bake again until the potatoes are tender and the top is crisp and golden.
