- For the wet batter — 2/3 cup cold water ( less or more to make thick batter)
- For the dry batter — 1 cup all purpose flour
- For the dry batter — 2 tbsp corn starch
- For the dry batter — 1 tbsp dried parsley
- For the dry batter — Salt to taste
- For the dry batter — 1 tsp garlic powder
- For the dry batter — 1 tsp black pepper powder
- For the dry batter — 1 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
- For the sauce — 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- For the sauce — 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce — 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce — Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Peel the onions and slice them into 1 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and remove the membranes. Carefully Pat dry the onions if there is any moisture.
- In a bowl, combine all purpose flour, corn starch, baking powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika powder. Gradually add water to the dry ingredients until you achieve a thick batter.
- In a separate bowl, prepare the dry batter by mixing all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, panko breadcrumbs, and dried parsley. Mix well to ensure all the ingredients are combined.
- Dip each onion ring into the wet batter, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Then, roll the onion rings in the dry mixture, making sure they’re evenly coated as well.
- Prepare the sauce by mixing all the ingredients in the bowl.
- Heat oil to 350°F. Fry the onion rings in batches of 3 to 4 at a time for 2 to 3 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Serve the onion rings hot with the sauce.
Tip: Leftovers keep 3 days in the fridge and reheat best in a skillet, not the microwave.
